Belarus and Slovenia are considering the possibility of building energy installations together in third countries, Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik told journalists as the Slovenian-built power substation Staroborisovskaya was opened in Minsk on 25 March.

The official said: "Everyone, who comes to our market — Slovenian, German, Austrian, Chinese companies — make sure of the high qualification of our construction and installation companies. This is why they are ready to go with us to third countries and implement investment projects there. Belarus has strong design institutes. We are ready to establish the relevant consortiums and handle investment projects in third countries together with them." Janez Skrabec, CEO of the Slovenian company Riko that built the power substation, said that Riko is ready to work together with Belarus to export services to Azerbaijan and Iran. "Belarus and Slovenia professionally work together and trust each other. Now we can bring our proposals to third markets together. Certain steps are already being made," he added. Janez Skrabec said he believes that the investment climate in Belarus will improve and will attract other European investors to the country. "Belarus is at the crossroads between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. I think it will give an impulse to the Belarusian-European dialogue," the Riko CEO said.
