Four civilians were killed in two separate attacks in northern Iraq on Saturday, according to local security officials. reports citing AA.

Suspected Daesh militants attacked the town of al-Asadiyah, south of Mosul, killing three people before fleeing the scene unscathed.

Another civilian was killed when a vehicle hit a roadside bomb north of Tikrit in northern Iraq, Lieutenant Numan al-Jubouri said.

Ten more people were injured in the blast.

Recent months have seen frequent attacks by Daesh militants on civilian targets and security personnel stationed in northern and eastern Iraq.

Last year, officials in Baghdad said Daesh's military capacity had been all destroyed following a three-year conflict with the Iraqi army and a U.S.-led military coalition.

Nevertheless, the group still maintains a limited presence in certain parts of the country, against which security forces still carry out frequent operations.
