A workshop "Meeting Industry of Azerbaijan" was held yesterday in Moscow. It was attended by leading representatives of Azerbaijan's MICE-industry, organized by the Azerbaijan Convention Bureau and the first tour operator in Azerbaijan, representative of the republic's Ministry of Culture, Tour A Vent.
Axar.az reports referring to Vestnik Kavkaza.
As official representative of Tour A Vent Alla Arrieta Cordovez noted in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza, Azerbaijan has significant potential in the MICE-industry, in other words, in everything that concerns the organization of large scale events, both at the public and corporate level, including team buildings, congresses and conferences.
"The country has a large number of international hotels. Azerbaijan is significantly ahead of small European countries. When people come to us for major events, they always have something to do. All hotels in Azerbaijan have large conference halls. All of this plus delicious food, good weather, sea and sun contribute to the development of MICE-industry in the country," she stressed.
Advisor on humanitarian affairs of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia, Vugar Imamaliev, speaking at the workshop, focused on the importance of the republic as MICE-industry destination for the Russians. "Russia and Azerbaijan have very strong humanitarian and cultural ties, and tourism is a part of our culture, after all, tourist shows the culture of his country and explores culture of the country he visits. Recently Baku hosted the 5th International Humanitarian Forum at the Heydar Aliyev Center, and positive reviews of Russian politicians, scientists and representatives of culture are a proof that Azerbaijan is a country that can and is ready to receive guests, and no visitor will feel uncomfortable in Azerbaijan," he noted.
Vugar Imamaliev invited all the participants to Azerbaijan. "2016 was declared the Year of Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. Multicultural relations, dialogue of civilizations is something our state pays a lot of attention to. While living in Russia, Leyla Aliyeva, vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and head of its office in the Russian Federation, is implementing this multicultural dialogue in the framework of cooperation with the Foundation and the AYOR. The events held by these organizations give us a lot in terms of development of interpersonal and intercultural relations between our countries," he concluded.
