The former governor of Ukraine’s Odessa region, who was also Georgian president, says the aim of his recently-established party New Forces Movement is to fully replace the political class in Ukraine.

The former governor of Ukraine’s Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, said on Tuesday that the aim of his recently-established party New Forces Movement is to fully replace the political class in Ukraine.

Saakashvili, who was also Georgian president, expressed confidence that the new party will win in an early election to the Ukrainian parliament after which it will be possible to impeach the president.

"Our aim is to change the Ukrainian political class," the former governor said in an interview with the German Deutsche Welle. "When President Poroshenko offered me to become prime minister I said my ambitions were much higher than to be prime minister... I want to fully change the rules of political game. I want to fully change the political class and I want to be part of this process," he said.
