Azerbaijan's famous scientist, doctor of biological sciences, professor, head of the Department of “Zoology and Bioecology of Vertebrate" at the Baku State University (BSU) has died aged 86.

Axar.az reports that Mustafayev was born to a collective farmer's family on December 25, 1931, in Kurdamir district. He graduated from the Biological Faculty of APU with honor diploma in Biology-Zoology in 1954. He continued with the postgraduate study in 1954-1957. He received PhD (1958) and Doctor of Sciences (1985) in 1958 and later the professor scientific name. He worked as a research worker at the Institute of Zoology of ANAS in 1958 and at the Baku State University, Faculty of Biology since 1960.

He was awarded more than 30 honorary titles, medals, honorary diplomas and other awards and valuable grants for his contribution to science and education, was elected as academician of the International Academy of Pedagogical Sciences and awarded the "Order of Glory".

Notably, the late was famous as the presenter of the "Nature Lovers" broadcast on air of Azerbaijan state television.
