Lionel Messi is a Barcelona legend and has admitted in the past he intends on seeing out his playing days at the Nou Camp.

Axar.az reports citing express.co.uk.

However, the Argentina international seems to have had a change of heart and has hinted he would rather hang up his boots after a spell in America.

David Beckham has been granted permission for a new MLS franchise based in Miami, something he has been working on for years.

And Messi has admitted he would love to play for the club in the future, urging Beckham to call him once it is up and running in 2020.

In a video wishing Beckham well with the new franchise, Messi said: “First of all, congratulations.

“I wanted to wish you all the best in this project, this new role for you.

“And who knows, maybe in a few years you can give me a call?”

The comments will worry Barca fans who have been spoiled by Messi’s brilliance over the years at the Nou Camp.

The Argentine has been part of the club since he was 13 and claimed last year he wanted to retire with the Catalan side.

“It's what I always wanted and dreamed,” he said.

“I would love to finish my career at Barcelona.”

Messi is under contract at the Nou Camp until June 2021, having penned a new deal last November.
