Game of Europa League postponed

The first game to be held today in the first qualifying round of the Europa League between FC Klaksvik of Faroe Islands and Lithuanian Zalgiris has been postponed.

Axar.az reports citing Report.

The reason is that the representative of Vilnius cannot fly to Torshavn with a full team due to unfavourable weather conditions. Zalgiris wanted to fly from the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, to the central city of Faroe Islands. However, two of the flights to Torshavn was cancelled due to difficult weather conditions. For this reason, many of the team players and coaches had to stay in Copenhagen.

Appealing to UEFA, Zalgiris administrations said that they could be in the capital of Faroe Islands on the game day. The European Football Association has assessed the situation and decided to hold a meeting with Klaksvik on July 11, but not today. The meeting to be held at Gundadalur stadium will begin at 20:00 Baku time. Thus, the qualifying round of the Europa League will start today with the match Samtredia (Georgia) - "Tobol" (Kazakhstan). The match to be held in Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi will begin at 20:00 Baku time.
