AI may take half of jobs by 2025, says WIPO official

As a result of the development of artificial intelligence, by 2025, 50 percent of workers in the world may lose their jobs, Evgeny Sesitsky, Head of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), said Oct. 25 during a plenary session at the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Axar.az informs, he noted that among the 160 member countries of the organization, the United States and China allocate the most funds for scientific discoveries.

Sesitsky said that recently artificial intelligence has become a very popular research area.

"But scientists warn that many problems may arise in connection with the development of artificial intelligence. As a result of the development of artificial intelligence, 50 percent of workers in the world may lose their jobs by 2025," Sesitsky said.

The 6th International Humanitarian Forum began its work in Baku today. More than 580 representatives from 86 countries and 24 international organizations participate in the forum.
