The ruling Justice and Development (AK Party) Party and the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will submit the draft constitutional proposal to the parliament next week, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Thursday.

Yıldırım spoke at a joint press conference with MHP chairman Devlet Bahçeli following a meeting on constitutional reform they held in Ankara.

"The talks with PM Yıldırım on constitutional reform were positive, and a draft will be presented to the Parliament soon" Bahçeli told reporters.

After the draft is presented in the parliament, a referendum will be held for the public to make the final decision if a total of 330 votes or higher is reached.

The parliament is expected to debate the amendements early next year and the referendum may be held in April.
