Sanctions not economic tool anymore

Sanctions are increasingly frequently being used for political purposes in competition, the Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the country's Security Council.

"Competition for markets, technologies, capitals is increasing with each year," he said.

"Economic restrictions, pressure, sanctions are more and more often used for political purposes in competitive struggle," said Putin.
