Russian expects UN join humanitarian efforts in Aleppo

Russia expects the United Nations humanitarian structures to swiftly join humanitarian efforts in Syria’s Aleppo, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Geneva office and other Geneva-based international organizations Alexei Borodavkin told TASS on Friday.

Axar.az reports quoting TASS, Borodavkin underscored that:

"We expect professional and de-politicized actions from the United Nations structures in strict compliance with their mandate," he said. "It is especially important now when Russia is carrying out humanitarian operation in liberated Aleppo practically unaided."

"It is high time the United Nations humanitarian structures ultimately stop dabbling in politics and begin doing real job the international community entrusted them, that is to provide emergency assistance to the Syrians suffering from hardships."

"Following Aleppo’s liberation, of major importance in the issue of active and swift involvement of the United Nations humanitarian structures in relief assistance to people living in that city".
