A village guard was martyred in an operation against the terrorist PKK in Turkey’s eastern Bingol province Tuesday, according to security sources.

Axar.az reports that the guard was martyred during an ongoing counterterrorism operation against the PKK in Bingol’s Genc district, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Three other village guards and one security official were slightly injured in the operation and taken to the hospital for treatment.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have been killed since the PKK resumed its armed terrorist campaign in July 2015.
