Authorities have detained three members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps the information ministry said Monday.

Axar.az reports citing Yeni Safak.

The Iranians were aboard a vessel seized last Friday that was explosive and ammunition-laden and attempted to attack the platforms of the Saudi oil field of Marjan, according to a statement from the ministry's center for international communications.

"This was one of three vessels which were intercepted by Saudi forces. It was captured with the three men on board, the other two escaped," the statement added.

The detainees are being questioned.
