Turkish police detain man at US consulate

Turkish security forces have detained a man who tried to enter the U.S. consulate in Istanbul on Friday.

According to a police source, the man, thought to be a Chinese citizen, tried to jump a fence at the heavily-guarded complex in Sariyer, on the city’s European side.

The consulate warned its citizens of a “potential security incident” and advised them to “avoid the Consulate General and the surrounding area”.
