At least eight people have died, while 49 were injured in a stampede and a subsequent wall collapse at the football stadium in Senegal’s capital of Dakar, local media reported Sunday.

Axar.az reports quoting the APS news agency.

A local league cup final took place at the football stadium and a stampede occurred at the exit when people were leaving the facility. Presumably, the wall collapse was prompted by the overflow of people.

The rescue workers and medics are currently working at the scene and looking for people, who might be under the rubble, according to the agency.
