2 PKK terrorists neutralized in Turkey

Turkish warplanes have neutralized two PKK terrorists in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq, the military said on Tuesday. reports citing Anadolu news.

According to a Turkish Armed Forces statement, it carried out airstrikes in Turkey’s eastern Bitlis province as well as northern Iraq’s Zap region on Monday.

Warplanes destroyed three caves used by the terrorists as well as an ammunitions depot and an anti-aircraft weapons pit, the statement said.

Two terrorists thought to be preparing for an attack on security forces were killed, it added.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.

Since then, more than 1,200 victims, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.

Turkey has been conducting counterterror operations in both Turkey and northern Iraq to fight the terrorist organization.
