Heavy rain started in Istanbul early on Tuesday morning, following the Turkish State Meteorological Service’s warning for the Marmara Region.

Axar.az reports citing Yeni Safak.

The heavy rain and storm disrupted daily life as it hindered traffic and brought public transport to a halt. Buildings and shops became flooded and some people became trapped in their cars or homes due to flooding.

People caught in the rain used umbrellas to not be drenched, and those who were caught unaware took shelter under building beams and bus stops to protect themselves from heavy rain.

Traffic congestion was also caused by the rain. The average speed reduced to 25 km per hour on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge.
