Turkey: 9 PKK terrorists killed in Hakkari in a week

A total of nine PKK terrorists were killed this past week in the southeastern Hakkari province, according to Hakkari police.

Axar.az report citing AA.

The Hakkari Provincial Police Directorate said in a statement that two other suspected terrorists had surrendered during an operation which lasted for a week in Hakkari province.

The operation was air supported and was made with coordination of Turkish military, police and gerdarmerie, the statement added.

The statement also said a base was set up during the operation at an altitude of 3,468 meters making it the highest such military base in Turkey

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
