Nino Burjanadze to visit occupied territories

Nino Burjanadze, chairperson of the “Democratic Movement – United Georgia” party, is planning to visit occupied territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Axar.az reports citing APA.

She aims to meet with local people, the party’s press service told.

“Nino Burjanadze said that the main priority is to establish a direct dialogue between Abkhazians and Ossetians. She does not recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The connection with civilians of these territories must be restored,” the party said.

Burjanadze served as a chairperson of Georgia’s Parliament in 2001-2008. The politician supports the normalization of Georgia-Russia relations.
