Two trains collide in Egypt's Alexandria

At least 28 died and some 74 others were injured on Friday when two trains collided in the suburbs of the Egyptian city of Alexandria, local media reported citing medical and security sources.

Axar.az reports citing Sputnik.

According to the Youm7 portal, 22 injured people have been hospitalized in local clinics, while the exact number of casualties is being determined.

One of the trains was heading from Cairo, while the other was heading from the city of Port Said in northeast of the country, Al-Ahram newspaper reported.

Egypt Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq has ordered an urgent investigation into the collision between, the news outlet added.

The reasons for the train collision have been not clear so far.

Medics and rescue workers are currently at the site.
