Palestine's Hamas movement has slammed US President Donald Trump over his move to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, warning that the decision "opens the gates of hell."

Axar.az reports citing Reuters.
The political and militant group issued a statement Wednesday, immediately following Trump's announcement that Washington would be relocating the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in six months' time.

"Trump's decision on Jerusalem will not succeed in changing the fact that Jerusalem is an Arab Muslim land," a spokesperson for the group said, according to AFP.

The group urged Arabs and Muslims across the Middle East to work to undermine the US in the region and to shun Israel.
