Turkmenistan will lead CIS in 2019

Turkmenistan is preparing for the chairmanship in the CIS in 2019.

Axar.az informs citing the Anadolu Agency.

The next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State will be held in Dushanbe on September 28, after which the chairmanship in the structure will transfer from Tajikistan to Turkmenistan.

In this regard, the draft Concept of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in the CIS has already been prepared and submitted to the president for consideration.

As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow noted, Turkmenistan, assuming the chairmanship of the Commonwealth, will continue to promote the development of a constructive multi-vector partnership in the CIS area.

According to him, the Turkmen side will do everything necessary to ensure that the activities of the statutory bodies and specialized structures of the CIS are effective in the forthcoming period.
