Introduction of duties on imports of steel in the US had a positive impact on the economy of the American division of Evraz against the backdrop of rising prices for finished products, Evraz CEO Alexander Frolov said during a conference call on Thursday.

"The situation with our assets in the US is complicated, because they are not easily analyzed. One of them is in Pueblo, and tariffs worked out for it in a positive way, the prices have grown, the demand has increased. It was a bit worse for the asset in Portland, which receives slabs from Nizhny Tagil. We are paying imports duty, but at the same time prices for finished products have grown, and margin has increased as a result," he said.
