The European Union begins the official procedure for signing an agreement on the conditions of Brexit.

"The European Commission begins today the procedure for signing and completing an agreement on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU," the European Commission said in a statement.

It explains that "the EC accepted the proposals that launch the formal process of concluding an agreement in the EU". This means that the Council of Europe and the European Parliament must officially allow the signing of the deal, after which it can enter into force on March 30, 2019, if the United Kingdom approves it.
