Relations between Moscow and the Holy See were in focus of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State, the Russian foreign ministry said on Thursday.
Axar.az reports citing TASS.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Milan.
"The sides expressed mutual satisfaction over the high level and steady development of Russia-Vatican dialogue both at the interstate level and in terms of relations between the Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches. The sides reiterated their commitment to further comprehensive cooperation between Russia and the Holy See," the ministry said.
Lavrov is taking part in a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan on December 6-7. Earlier in the day, he met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, Norway’s Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soreide and President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli.
