Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has met with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to our country, Daynis Garancs.

The Defense Minister congratulated the ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in the country and wished him success in further work on the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on military-political situation in the region, international and regional security issues, as well as prospects for cooperation.

Noting the importance of bilateral relations in defense, Colonel-General Hasanov praised the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia in military and military education.

In turn, Ambassador Garancz expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries, noting that military cooperation between Latvia and Azerbaijan continues to be successful both in NATO and in bilateral format.

The sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest in the fields of defense and security.
