US officials have made statements on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Saturday.

He made the remarks at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development in the first quarter of 2016 and objectives for the future.

President Aliyev said fruitful talks were held during his recent visit to the US, noting that relations between the two countries open up new opportunities for both sides.

“In the first quarter of 2016, I paid visits to several countries, and 10 heads of state and government visited Azerbaijan. All this is due to the active foreign policy of Azerbaijan,” the president said. “Two vice-presidents of the European Commission visited Azerbaijan in the first quarter of this year,” he added.

The head of state noted that a new format of cooperation has been created in the region. Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia and Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey trilateral formats contribute to regional security and deepening the cooperation,” President Aliyev said.
