On May 26, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the progress of construction work at the Zangilan Mosque built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of Pasha Holding LLC.

Axar.az informs that Aide to the President Anar Alakbarov briefed the President and the First Lady on the work done.

It should be noted that during the thirty years of Armenian occupation of our lands, as in other territories, our historical, religious and cultural monuments in the Zangilan region have been subjected to Armenian vandalism, destroyed and insulted. During the occupation, the mosque in Zangilan was also used as a stable.

As a result of the liberation of the region from occupation, the historical and architectural monuments here were also freed from Armenian captivity. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has rendered an exceptional service in the process of reviving our religious monuments and mosques, which were destroyed and insulted during the occupation for nearly thirty years. Restoration of religious monuments and mosques in Karabakh is underway.

The foundation stone for the restoration of the Zangilan Mosque was laid on April 26 last year with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and daughters Leyla Aliyeva.
