Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, India and Pakistan have been celebrating Novruz in the headquarters of the organization.

The event was attended by ambassadors of these countries, permanent representatives to UNESCO, representatives of diaspora organizations and others.
Speaking at the event, the official representatives spoke about the Novruz holiday and its moral significance. Iranian permanent representative to UNESCO A.Calali delivered a speech and said that Novruz is a holiday of happiness, joy, and brought people together.
UNESCO Deputy Director for Cultural Affairs, Ernesto Ottone Ramirez, congratulated the participants on behalf of the Director General of the Organization Adrio Azu. He said that Nowruz, one of the most important holidays for humanity, reflects universal values such as peace and solidarity.
Within the framework of the event cultural representatives of the organizing countries performed national musical and dance samples, and a documentary film about Novruz traditions was demonstrated.
Recall that Novruz was included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009.
