Turkey's operation in Syria is set to remove any Kurdish or terrorist threat from Northern Syria.
Dr. Theodore Karasik senior advisor Gulf State analytics Washington DC told this to Axar.az during his comment on the inadequate reaction of the countries from different parts of the world to the operation.
The area to be carved out according to Turkish planners is to create a safe zone for refugees as the restructuring of Northern Syria occurs with Turkey's operations. Naturally, both Russia and Iran are watching with keen interest on how Turkey will perform this operations. While Russia has real leverage with Turkey, Ankara knows that Iran is lurking and can create trouble.
Turkey's military operations in Northern Syria with a green light from US President Donald Trump is seen by Ankara as a way to preserve Syrian territorial integrity by pushing back and destroying anti-Turkish Kurdish elements. Turkey is using its military operation as a cover for a greater restructuring of the Syrian religious-political landscape in order to build up a buffer zone.
Russia is the big winner again because Moscow is able to talk to all sides but also put pressure on Erdogan if necessary.
