If Washington imposes sanctions on Ankara due to the purchase of the S-400 air defense system from Russia, Turkey will respond.

Axar.az reports that Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said this in a statement to A Haber TV.

"If the US imposes sanctions on Turkey, the Injirlik and Kuracik bases may be on the agenda," the minister said.

In addition, Cavusoglu said Russian fighters would be considered as alternatives if the US refuses to supply F-35s:

“The US refuses all our proposals. If we respond positively, we will respond back. But if we don't get the F-35s, we will look for alternatives so that we can focus on Russia or other markets. "
