Nagorno-Karabakh is the ancient land of Azerbaijan. In fact, today we should not use the term Nagorno-Karabakh at all. Karabakh - lowland, mountainous - is an integral part of Azerbaijan. The Armenian people live in a part of it, and we do not object to that. Although the Armenian population was relocated there in the early 19th century.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a press conference for local and foreign journalists today.

"We do not protest. The Armenian population lives in other parts of our country and there are no problems. Therefore, I think that if someone raises this issue today, it serves more confrontation than peace," he said.

The President also noted that the less this (status issue - ed.) Is mentioned for Armenia and the Armenian people, the better:

"Because it is not necessary to make false promises to Armenia and the Armenian people. This was one of the reasons that brought them to this day: fantasies, claims, baseless desires. Politicians of some foreign countries also played a role in humiliating the Armenian people. Therefore, the status issue should be removed from the agenda in general.
