I did not expect such a rapid victory of Baku.
Axar.az reports that the statement came from Leonid Krutakov, a Russian specialist and associate professor at the University of Finance under the Government of the Russian Federation, speaking on the first anniversary of the 44-day war.
The expert said that he learned about the beginning of the war through the media:
"After the change of government in Yerevan and Pashinyan's open disregard for Putin's request for Kocharyan, it was clear that Armenia had lost Moscow's direct and unconditional support. The balance was upset and interest groups were expected to return to the Karabakh issue. Ilham Aliyev took full advantage of the current situation: he managed to distance Moscow from the issue and gain Ankara's support. I did not expect such a rapid victory of Baku. This was evidence of the moral and military decline of the Armenian army and the lack of political will in the new leadership of Armenia", he said.
