Three cities of Azerbaijan - Baku, Ganja and Gabala - have been elected members of the Global Network of Learning Cities, a leading body of UNESCO in the field of lifelong learning.

Axar.az reports that, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the first time, Azerbaijani cities are among the members whose names were announced by the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities on September 23. This year, a total of 55 cities from 27 countries have joined the Global Network. In this regard, a video conference will be held on September 23 to announce the new members of the Network.

The process of our cities' membership in the network was initiated and organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, with the support of the Ministry of Education, with the participation of our Permanent Representation to UNESCO and relevant executive authorities.
