Russia opposes banning Israeli athletes from competitions

Russia is against banning Israeli athletes from participating in competitions.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Minister.

“I am often asked, along with our representatives in international organizations, why Israeli athletes are allowed to compete despite the disaster in Gaza and Israel’s policies. We say that sports should not be politicized.

We fairly assess Israel’s actions and what is happening in Gaza. But we say that under no circumstances should athletes be politicized,” she said.
