Le Monde: Ukraine, EU worried about US-led peace talks

Concerns are growing in Ukraine and Europe regarding the peace negotiations led by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.

Axar.az informs that Le Monde reported this information.

It is noted that in these negotiations, the United States is not taking Europe into account and is diminishing its role:

“Washington has still been unable to reach any serious compromise with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, while Putin continues to put forward maximalist demands for stopping the war.

What worries Ukrainians and their European allies most is that the United States does not intend to involve Europe in the peace talks. Just a few hours after Trump’s two envoys met with Putin, Kremlin adviser Kirill Dmitriev stated that the ‘peace plan’ discussed between the U.S. and Russian sides consisted of 27 clauses — only one clause fewer than the initial document that reflected Moscow’s demands.

This creates the impression in Ukraine and Europe that the talks held on November 23 in Geneva between Europeans, Americans, and Ukrainians — aimed at aligning the peace plan with international law and removing the most problematic points — have not been considered by Washington.”
