US President-elect Donald Trump is looking forward to his meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May, according to the message he posted on his Twitter microblog.

Axar.az reports that, "I look very much forward to meeting Prime Minister Theresa May in Washington in the spring. Britain, a longtime US ally, is very special!" he wrote.

The Press Association agency reported that May plans to meet with Trump in spring.
"We are pleased to have been able to make that happen and the Prime Minister looks forward to visiting the new president in the spring," the agency cited a source with the British government.

In late November of 2016, May called Trump after his victory at the presidential elections and discussed with him issues of building relations between the two countries during the transfer of power from the current US administration of the new team. The parties touched upon NATO issues, recognized the important role of this organization in withstanding various threats. They stressed the importance to increase the number of the bloc’s countries-members spending at least 2 % of GDP from their budgets on defense.
