Repeat elections will be held today in Istanbul for the mayor post of city. I am in Turkey to follow the elections more closely.

The megapolis, where some calmness reigns, reminds of silence before the storm, but it is clear that everyone is very tense.

The election atmosphere surrounding the whole city once again reminds of the importance June 23 for the history of Turkey.

The streets of Istanbul are divided into two parts:

On the one hand, with quite rational and hopeful slogan “We did what we promised, and we can do it again!” ex-mayor of Istanbul, Binali Yildirim and on the other hand, holding his hands in the form of a heart-shaped Ekrem Imamoglu with his romantic slogan “Everything will be fine”.

I have to emphasize that the election campaign of both parties has been perfectly designed, but it can be seen from the first sight that Binali Yildirim’s expenses at least three times more than his rival.

Talking about the money, AK Party brought about three hundred thousand citizens from Kayseri, Ankara, Antalya and other regions to participate in the elections of Istanbul, and all their travel expenses were paid by the party. The AK Party does not want to take a risk this time. The fiery speeches of President Erdogan about Kurdish separatists in the last election cost the AK party a lot. This time Mr.Erdogan chooses to remain silent about Kurds, due to win their votes. Even this was not enough for him so that he made positive campaigns amid Kurds. Erdogan even invited Kurdish leader Nacirvan Barzani to Turkey. AKP's current main policy is to re-gain 1 million 700 thousand voters who were not involved in the previous elections - the hurt voters in their language. If they do it Mr. Binali will be inevitable winner.

This is not the only thing that disturbs the AK Party. There are citizens who can accept the cancellation of the elections as an injustice to Imamoglu and the blow to democracy. Right now, the party is not convinced that they have not lost the votes that given to Binali Yildirim at last elections…
