The coronavirus pandemic is not behind us, German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed at a press conference on Wednesday, adding that the opening of the Schengen borders should be carefully monitored.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media.

When it comes to a € 500 billion recovery fund proposed by Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, the chancellor claimed that "Germany and France would have been a good building block for the proposal" even though there are still many questions to be answered before the agreement is made.

On Tuesday, Germany reportedly decided to extend social distancing measures until June 29, while another report said the country plans to lift travel restrictions to 31 European countries from June 15.
