Rustam Minnikhanov will run for President of Tatarstan.

Axar.az reports this information was spread by Minnikhanov's press service.

Minnikhanov has been President of Tatarstan since 2010. He replaces the famous President Mintimer Shaimiyev, who ruled Tatarstan for 19 years.

In 2013, the abolition of presidential status began in all subjects of Russia. The process was completed in all republics by 2015. Only Tatarstan opposed it and maintained its presidential status despite all the pressure. Tatarstan is expected to abolish this status after the 2020 elections.
