At a meeting of the UN Human Rights Committee, a letter prepared by Belarus in support of China's fight against "terrorism and separatist groups" in East Turkestan (Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region) was signed by representatives of 46 countries.
Axar.az reports that it is noteworthy that Muslim countries are among the supporters of the persecution of Uighur Turks.
Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Pakistan and Palestine have signed the petition. The letter praises Beijing's efforts to fight terrorism and separatism in Xinjiang.
"As a result of the measures, there have been no terrorist attacks in the region over the past three years. The region has regained peace and stability," the letter said.
