Georgia's continuing cooperation with NATO and efforts to join the alliance is blocking the possibility of a serious normalization of relations with Russia.
Axar.az reports that the statement came from Deputy Chairman of the Russian Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
"Some time ago, Georgia blocked the supply of military equipment in transit to Armenia under an agreement with Russia. Armenia has no common border with us. Georgia did not allow this to happen, and instead thanked US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. That happened last week. His gratitude was expressed in public. If Georgia continues to hinder us, what kind of trust and relations can we talk with Russia? ” he said.
Zatulin said NATO was fighting for influence in the post-Soviet space.
