Alexander Lukashenko's inauguration has lost democratic legitimacy and plunged Belarus into a deep crisis.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

"The European Union reaffirms that the August 9 presidential election in Belarus was neither free nor fair. The European Union does not recognize their results," he said.

It should be noted that the inauguration ceremony of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was held yesterday. The United States, Germany, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have said they do not recognize Lukashenko as president.
