Kazakhstan has joined the international protocol on the abolition of the death penalty.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from the head of Kazakhstan's Permanent Mission to the UN Kairat Umarov.

Earlier, Kazakh President Gasim Jomart Tokayev announced at the UN General Assembly that his country would renounce the death penalty.
