The possibility of sanctions has also weakened as Turkey has taken action on tensions in the eastern Mediterranean.

Axar.az reports that the EU diplomat told Reuters.

"The dialogue has affected the issue of imposing sanctions on Turkey. There is no consensus among the 27 member states to take steps in this direction," the statement said.

The EU will discuss sanctions against Turkey on September 24-25.
