Parliamentary elections have started in Georgia.

Axar.az reports that all polling stations in the country opened at 08:00.

The current parliamentary elections are the last in the country to be held in a mixed system. Thus, according to this system, 120 deputies to be elected to parliament will be determined by the proportional system, and 30 by the majority system. In the next elections, only the proportional system will prevail in the country.

Only a 1% barrier has been set for parties in the parliamentary elections. At the same time, Tbilisi has allocated 42.8 million lari for the elections.

In total, 55 parties participated in the elections. 7 of them are united in two blocs - Power Together (5 parties) and Agmashenebeli Strategy (2 parties). 6880 people nominated 120 seats in the parliament, which should be determined by the proportional system. There were 485 candidates for 30 seats to be determined by the majority system.
