PACE Co-rapporteurs to visit Azerbaijan tomorrow

The co-rapporteurs for monitoring of Azerbaijan by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Stefan Schennach and Cezar Florin Preda are to make a fact-finding visit to Baku from 15 to 17 June 2016, said the PACE website.

Meetings are foreseen, among others, with Azerbaijani leadership, parliament speaker Ogtay Asadov, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, Justice Minister Fikret Mammadov and Central Election Commission head Mazahir Panahov.

Meetings will also take place with representatives of civil society, the media and opposition parties currently not represented in the parliament.

Alain Destexhe (Belgium), Schennach and Preda will then ensure a presence of the Assembly during the repeat of parliamentary election in Azerbaijan's Constituency No. 90 in Agdash.
