UN should increase its role in restoration of IDPs’ rights

The UN Human Rights Council should increase its role in the restoration of the rights of Azerbaijani internally displaced persons, said Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev.

He made the remarks at the 32nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva June 14.

The deputy FM mentioned that Armenia pursued an ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijan during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Azerbaijan has become one of the countries with a large number of IDPs and refugees, Mammadguliyev said, stressing that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can only be solved within the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan.
