The US State Department has condemned President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement on Marash along with Northern Cyprus President Ersin Tatar.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from the US State Department.

The statement claimed that the statement contradicted UN Security Council resolutions:

"The United States condemns the transfer of part of Marash to the control of Turkish Cypriots, which is in clear contradiction with UN Security Council Resolutions 550 and 789. The United States considers the Turkish Cypriot efforts in Marash provocative and unacceptable. He is working with his partners and will insist on a tough response.”
