The Taliban claimed on Saturday that the Islamic State no longer operates in Afghanistan, according to statements made by a government representative.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that Dr. Bashirmal, head of the Taliban's intelligence services, during an interview with Nikkei Asia.

He also added that on the other side, Daesh is not a threat to national security in the country "There is no ISIS, not just in Nangarhar Province but all of Afghanistan," said.

Although the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISIS-KP) only exercises control over a small part of the country, they have launched more sophisticated attacks, making Afghanistan's security situation even more precarious.
